Dear ladies and gentlemen,
together with Hornbach, we are very happy having been awarded GOLD in the category ‚Leadership, Team and Management‘ at the 21st International German Training Award 2013/14!
The 21st International German Training Award 2013/14 was awarded at the largest German personnel fair. Previously, the best 18 out of more than 60 submitted projects were invited to Cologne in order to be presented to the jury. The criteria for the bronze, silver and gold awards were: project presentation at the exhibition stand, an info folder and a five-minute elevator pitch – a short presentation of the submitted concept on only one flipchart.
The challenge:
The team consisting of Hornbach and MDI had worked intensively on a creative stand design.The concept should be presented in an appealing, simple and clear way. The challenges involved:
- management development program for new leaders
- four hierarchy levels – from the shop assistant to the market manager
- three programs for the most important leadership topics with 4 to 10 modules
The approach:
- Exhibition stand: A creative workshop with Hornbach’s advertising department lead to an excellent concept. The stand – an `eyecatcher` to many visitors – awoke curiosity and led people to ask for more information.
- Elevator pitch: Anne Keck (Hornbach) and Michael Kloss (MDI-Trainer) convinced the professional audience with an humourous, concise and compact speech. Within only 5 minutes, they succeeded to transport the idea, the uniqueness and the strengths of the program.
Strengths of the program & cooperation:
- High orientation on practical experience
- Internationality
- Transparent future career ladder up to market manager (span of control: 150 employees)
- Didactic und methodical know how with practical orientation
- MDI with their international trainer network and high quality orientation as the ideal basis for the international roll-out of the program three years ago
- 500 participants
- Success stories: some “shooting stars” started as shop assistants in the new leaders program and are now participating in the market managers program
The awards show: GOLD for MDI & Hornbach:
Our successful cooperation was confirmed by the GOLD award for the project. Together, we managed a tough challenge in comparison with multinational concerns and their development concepts. We were awraeded the only gold medal in the category ‘Leadership, Team and Management’.
Mr Ost and Ms Keck (both Hornbach HR) as well as Rüdiger Tesar (MDI partner) proudly received the award in front of the magnificient Cologne Cathedral setting. At this festive ceremony, there was much applause for Hornbach / MDI by all other participants of the competition.
Conclusion:
The fair was a great success for Hornbach as well as for MDI. Hornbach presented themselves as an innovative and employee-oriented company towards the jury and other experts. Even the top HR manager of Hornbach, Mr Gehrke, joined to event and was convinced by the professional performance.
With their expertise concerning the development and implementation of international concepts for management and employee development, MDI proved to be a competent and creative partner.
